100+ Women Who Care – Compassion at Christmas

Once again, the women of Temiskaming Shores & More have shown the community how compassionate they are.  The beneficiary of our November 26, 2025 meeting was a father and son many of you have seen walking along Lakeshore Drive in New Liskeard on a daily basis but perhaps have never known their names.  Andre Martin is a single father who has been raising his 23 year old, severely autistic, non-verbal and epileptic son, Jeremy, alone since Jeremy was 2.  Andre is unable to work as he is Jeremy’s full-time caregiver.  He had to sell his truck in 2022 to put food on the table, has to take cabs to get groceries as Jeremy now falls frequently, and has broken his teeth, his jaw and bruising to his body.  Andre does all the work on his home himself when repairs are required and finances allow.  Throughout it all, Andre continues to have a positive outlook, and we let Andre know that we see him and his struggles, and we wanted to help.  Our donation (which currently sits at $15,400) will allow him to put food on the table, purchase a small, well-used vehicle, do much needed repairs on his home and finally afford an occasional caregiver to give him some respite.

The Salvation Army Food Bank and Yogart’s Therapeutic Yoga Program for special needs kids were the other nominations drawn at our meeting and excellent presentations were made by all.

As a special initiative at our last meeting, our members also contributed non-perishable food donations for the local Food Banks.  Another way this compassionate group is continuing to help those in need.

After hearing about and receiving our donation, we received the following email from Andre:

“I am writing to you today with a heart full of gratitude and appreciation for the recent gift of $14,250 your organization has given me and my son Jeremy.

Your generous donation is a true blessing to us and will make a significant difference in our lives. Your gift will help us finish my renovations and provide a safe environment for my son, Jeremy. We are truly grateful for your support.

We understand that there are many worthy causes and organizations that you could have supported, and we are honored that you chose to support us.

Once again, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generosity and support.

With heartfelt thanks.

Andre and Jeremy Martin”

Also, as a result of the awareness created with our donation for Mr. Martin, he is now receiving a new furnace for his home at no cost! What an amazing community we have.

If you haven’t yet sent your donation, you can etransfer to 100wwctemhores@gmail.com and help make life just a little bit better for a family in need.

Thank you to everyone involved in making a difference in our community. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the New Liskeard Golf Club. New members are always welcome. Contact us to learn more.

100+ Women Who Care at the FORE front

On hand for the presentation were 100+ Women Who Care members Laurie Wilson, Lois Weston, Norma Hughes and Brenda Culp as well as representatives from the Haileybury Golf Club – Junior Program Volunteer, J.P. Rivet, General Manager of Operations, Taylor Dupuis, President, Denis Lacroix, Junior Program Volunteer, Lionel Dinel, Board Treasurer, Russell Walker and Board Secretary, Landan Fleury.

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, members of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More presented their donation of $13,350, (now at $13,750) to representatives of the Haileybury Golf Club, a non-profit organization, for their Junior Program.

The Haileybury Golf Club Junior Program makes golf accessible and affordable for kids as young as 4 through to the teenage years. `The HGC Board of Directors have been adamant in keeping the price affordable, regardless of costs, to ensure that the youth in our community have a deserving chance of participating and being included in a youth sports camp. In 2023, the Junior program had 16 participants and in 2024, there were 24 participants. This year, over 50 juniors participated in the program, with roughly 35-40% being junior girls. With such an increase in participation, resources such as; training aids, junior sets, space, qualified help, and more became extremely limited. The 8 week program (1 day per week) lasted anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours and saw juniors be introduced to the FUNdamentals and etiquette of the game through various games, activities and exercises, with the addition of non-golf related activities to end each week. The last day of camp allowed the juniors to gain an on-course experience followed by a BBQ lunch, all included.

HGC General Manager of Operations, Taylor Dupuis was thrilled when he learned they were the successful recipient.

“On behalf of the Haileybury Golf Club, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible generosity in donating over $13,000 to support our Junior Golf Program.

The impact of 100 Women Who Care – Temiskaming Shores & More has been felt across our community for years. Your commitment to spotlighting and supporting so many important causes and programs in the Tri-Town area has touched countless lives, and we are truly honoured to now be among those beneficiaries.

Your support will ensure that the youth in our community have the opportunity to experience a junior golf program that sets them up for success both on and off the course. With your generosity, our young players will be able to build lifelong skills, grow in confidence, and enjoy the game of golf in a fun and inclusive environment.

Thank you once again for your dedication to making a difference. We cannot wait to showcase the impact that your sizeable donation will have towards the junior program and the youth in our community and we are truly grateful for your support.

With many thanks and appreciation,”

100+ Women join The Marshing Band Campaign

On hand for the presentation were 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores and More and Hilliardton Marsh Research and Education representatives – Stacey Toupin (marsh volunteer), Lois Weston, Lori Aquino, Joanne Goddard (Marsh board of directors), Bruce Murphy (Marsh research & education coordinator), Linda St Cyr, Laurie Laverdure, Carol Mackey, front row: Carmen Broughton, Johanne Mathieu, Marlene Mathieu, JoAnne Moar, Angela Fiset and Laurie Wilson

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, members of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More presented their donation of $14,400 (now at $15,050) to representatives of the Hilliardton Marsh Research and Education Centre.  The Marsh is a not for profit center that is an area rich in wetlands and a large variety of birds and provides the opportunity for young and old alike to experience all the Marsh has to offer such as bird banding, bird watching, owl banding, critter dipping etc.  Ages under 2 – 92+ can spend the most amazing day at the Marsh at the visitors center called The Hive and out and about the Marsh. It is a real treasure to have something like The Marsh in our own backyard. If you want to contribute to this great cause, it’s not too late to send your etransfer to 100wwctemshores@gmail.com.

When Bruce Murphy, who has dedicated his life to The Hilliardton Marsh, was made aware of our donation, he was beyond excited and had this to say:

“This donation to the marsh is huge for us on many levels. The immediate impact is getting us closer to making the marsh more accessible for the many levels of needs from wheelchair to walker aided folks; to those who simply have need of a more even walking surface; to those who are visually challenged and have need of a white cane; to the parents and grandparent with infants and toddlers in strollers.  This has been the missing piece in the welcoming marsh community and this huge donation makes this paved accessible pathway closer to becoming a reality. On a community level this donation makes me feel like the marsh is making a real impact on the larger community and that our efforts have been validated by all the amazing women that are making a difference for all of our communities. This donation is an example of the impact that thoughtful, powerful and empowered women have. We are grateful and humbled by your support. I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to come to the marsh if you have never been and to return if it has been awhile. I would be happy to show you where the path is going and to show you some of the amazing birds we are banding.  In closing, on behalf of all of the marsh directors and myself, thank you for this donation and the support you are giving the marsh and future users of the path. Thank you really does not sum up the excitement and appreciation of the moment. Outdoorably yours Bruce Murphy.”

Thank you to everyone involved in making a difference in our community.  Our next meeting will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the Haileybury Golf Club. New members are always welcome. Contact us to learn more.

Check (or should we say cheque) Your Chest Campaign

On hand for the presentation were members of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores and More – who presented their donation to Chrissy Trudel of the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, members of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More presented their donation of $14,600 (now $15,000 – our highest donation to-date) to the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation for their Check Your Chest Campaign.  This campaign seeks to raise funds for new, state of the art mammography equipment that will greatly improve the quality of screening, provide more accurate assessments and ultimately save more lives.  Capital costs for hospital equipment receive no government funding, and hospitals rely solely on the generosity of the community through the Hospital Foundation and independent fundraising initiatives to purchase new equipment.

Temiskaming Hospital CEO, Mike Baker, had this to say when given the news, “Thank you for choosing to support the Check Your Chest campaign.  The outpouring of support from our community has been truly incredible.  Thanks to your generosity, we are one step closer to purchasing a new 3-D mammography unit for our hospital, which will benefit so many individuals in need of this critical care.  This equipment is a great investment in preventative and diagnostic care.  We are proud to be a part of such a compassionate and supportive community, and together we are making a lasting difference in the lives of our friends, families and neighbours.  Thank you again to the 100+ Women Who Care.

Chrissy Trudel, Physician Recruitment, Foundation and Media Relations Manager sent this,“Being chosen for this generous donation means more to me than words can express. This gift will touch so many lives, offering not only advanced care, but also peace of mind to countless individuals.  I am deeply grateful for the support, and I know that it will make a lasting, positive impact on the health and well-being of our community for years to come.  The $450,000 Check Your Chest campaign already has $297,053.22 to date; your donation will put us well over $300.000. Thank you once again.”

Thank you to everyone involved in making a difference in our community.  Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Haileybury Golf Club. New members are always welcome. Contact us to learn more.

Tragedy, Compassion, Support, Hope

The compassion of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More was palpable on November 27, 2024 at the New Liskeard Golf Club as the women heard Joline Rivard’s heartfelt plea to contribute to a trust fund for the future needs of Kaylie Smith. The tragedy that unfolded involving Kaylie has affected the whole community and the women felt that impact. When the Smith family was informed tonight they responded:

“Thank you all for being a beacon of light in times of confusion and sorrow.  Your donation will help Kaylie open doors for her future, to be able to travel, to speak, to tell her story and to hopefully save other girls and women from similar fates.  Every prayer, well wishes, kind words of support received are getting Kaylie closer to recovery everyday.  It has really taken a village to get through this horrific attack, and we are so glad to have a village like your 100+ Women Who Care standing behind little Kaylie. So much love and light and appreciation to you all.  We can never thank you enough!” The Smith Family

Our contribution to the trust fund is $14,350.

As we start our fifth year, we are celebrating that we have contributed $262,750 to a variety of worthy causes in our community. Well done!!.

100+ Women Who Care Leave a Legacy

On hand for the presentation were 100+ Women Who Care members, Michele Lamoureux, Laurie Wilson and Lois Weston as well as The Temiskaming Foundation, Executive Director, Brigid Wilkinson and members of the School Nutrition Fund Committee, Trish Desjardins and Kelly Howard.

On Wednesday, September 11, 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Committee presented their donation of $13,600 (now at $13,700) to representatives of The Temiskaming Foundation (TTF) and the School Nutrition Fund.

The School Nutrition Fund is a new endowment fund within TTF, which means that our principal donation from last night’s meeting remains forever within the School Nutrition Fund. Every year, The School Nutrition Fund will grant out 5% of the fund to the School Nutrition Programs and any investment returns above the 5% disbursement will grow the fund, so our principal donation, as well as the amount of our 5% granting, grows as well.  Simply put, that means in 15-20 years we will have granted out an amount equivalent to our donation and yet our donation itself remains in the fund, increases in value, and will continue to grant out to School Nutrition Programs for generations to come.  Because the School Nutrition Fund, and other TTF funds that have chosen to have their disbursement go to the School Nutrition Program, fewer and fewer children will go hungry at school.

Brigid Wilkinson, Executive Director of The Temiskaming Foundation, had this to say when advised of the donation; “Once again we are blown away by the generosity of 100+ Women Who Care.  Your organization is a testament to the power of many hands working together to tackle the big issues in our community.  This donation will be invested in the School Nutrition Fund/fond d’alimentation saine pour les élèves and will generate reliable funding for school nutrition programs in our district for generations to come.  Thank you so much!”

We are thrilled to be supporting this wonderful local initiative. Congratulations to everyone involved. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the New Liskeard Golf Club. New members are always welcome. Contact us to learn more.

On Monday, March 18, 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Committee presented their donation of $13,650 (now $13,850) to representatives for Camp Jeunesse en Marche.

Camp Jeunesse en Marche, CJM, has been in operation for over 40 years. It is a volunteer-based organization, located in Coleman Township. The mission of CJM is to provide enriching summer camps to children between the ages of 9 to 14, all while nurturing a deep respect for the environment. Children attending the camp can participate in numerous indoor and outdoor activities. Examples include water sports, hiking, games in the woods, bonfires and singing, dancing, arts and crafts. The summer camps employ local high-school students as camp monitors, providing them excellent leadership experiences and skills.  Built in the late 1970s on the shores of beautiful Gillies Lake, it offers a wonderful setting not only for all inclusive summer camps to around 90 children, but also for retreats, quilting and scrapbooking weekends, and family gatherings. Operating typically between the end of May and the end of September, CJM after a four-year hiatus, is set to reopen its doors in 2024.  A renovation project is imminently starting, aiming to increase the number of washroom facilities from two to six. Among these, two washrooms will be inclusive, adapted, and fully accessible (including roll-in shower stalls), catering to those with limited mobility.

Charlotte Lavictoire, board member for Camp Jeunesse en Marche was thrilled with the donation coming their way.  “I am amazed and so grateful for the generosity of the women of Temiskaming. What a fantastic endeavour helping so many children and families.  Thank you to all who saw the importance of our project to the community.”

As a new program, we are in need of financial support to cover our start-up costs and year-over-year expenses to fund this brand-new basketball program. 100+ Women Who Care – Women Helping Women at Pavilion Women’s Centre

Members of 100+ Women Who Care presented Melanie Ducharme, Executive Director of Pavilion Women’s Centre with $14,550 in support of their Community Connections space. On hand for the presentation were, Pavilion community connections coordinator Julia Guilbeault and program manager Kayla Dinel-Martel. In the front row in the same order are 100 Women steering committee members Lois Forget, Tarra Corneil, Vicky Willard (who nominated the Pavilion), chairperson Laurie Wilson, Pavilion executive director Melanie Ducharme and Pavilion finance manager Joyce Elson.

On Monday, June 12, members of 100+ Women Who Care presented Pavilion Women’s Centre with $14,550 making another significant impact on the lives of the women and  children in our area that need our help and compassion when they are at their most vulnerable. Pavilion, Executive Director, Melanie Ducharme was thrilled to receive the donation. “Pavilion Women’s Centre Community Connections space was started in 2022 as a way for women to regain the social supports lost during the pandemic. Isolation is a significant factor in woman abuse and we know that this was amplified during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Community Connections project was a way to create peer support opportunities for women and their children and welcomed women of all ages and backgrounds. Some women had a history of seeking support from Pavilion and some wanted the opportunity to connect more with women.

One challenge with the project was the need to rent space outside of the shelter to host events and therapeutic groups at a cost that could not be funded on an ongoing basis. The solution was to renovate a largely unused garage space into a comfortable, flexible meeting space and still maintain all the safety and security of the shelter. In that space, women will gather for group activities such as therapeutic art, exercise, to share a meal, participate in workshops or simply enjoy some downtime with supportive peers.

Pavilion Women’s Centre was thrilled to receive funding from Women’s Shelters Canada through the Government of Canada and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, RBC Foundation and local donations totalling $70,000. We also received funding for computer equipment that will be housed in the space from the Timiskaming Health Unit’s Digital Divide Project where women can access essential digital services like lawyers or complete paperwork online.

The space will be beautiful but need the help of our community to purchase the final supplies and furnishings to make this space the safe, flexible and comfortable space we envision for women and their children. In the past year, Pavilion Women’s Centre’s Community Connections Project has hosted more than 86 events, 19 therapeutic group sessions, and more than 228 women and their children and will have significant impact on the community for years to come. Thanks to the generosity of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More, this project can come to fruition.

Members of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores and More were thrilled to be presented their CJTT Citizen of the Year Award at their May 31, 2023 meeting at the Haileybury Golf Club.

On April 14, 2023, 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More were thrilled to learn that they were the 2022 recipients of the CJTT Citizen of the Year Award. “100 Women Who Care is a group of over 100 local women who have raised over $100,000 for charity since its inception in late 2020. Meeting four times a year, this army of community-minded women generate over $12,000 at each meeting and vote for a deserving local beneficiary.

Most recent beneficiaries of the Temiskaming Shores branch of 100 Women Who Care include Project Lifesaver, the Tri Town Ski and Snowboard Village, Kendra LaCarte – Keely’s Epic Battle, Zack’s Crib and a Ukrainian family sponsored by the Rotary Club.”

Missing from the photo was 100+ Women Who Care member Nancy Pedersen who nominated Project Lifesaver.

On Tuesday, March 7, 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Committee presented their donation of $12,750 for Project Lifesaver. Project Lifesaver is a wonderful initiative to protect at-risk individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behaviour of wandering. This may include those living with dementia, autism, down-syndrome, acquired brain injury or other cognitive conditions.  A radio frequency transmitter is worn on the wrist or ankle of the at-risk individual, and upon receipt of a 911 call from the caregiver, specially trained first responders arrive on scene and triangulate the direction of the signal to help locate the individual who has gone missing. Our donation will enable Project Lifesaver, a partnership between Victim Services of Temiskaming & District and the Temiskaming and Kirkland Lake OPP, to purchase two more receiver kits for the Temiskaming OPP Detachment and the Englehart Detachment which would facilitate a search more effectively.  It will also help offset the cost to the individual for the wrist/ankle transmitter and monthly battery fees, so that financial hardship is not a barrier to this lifesaving program. Time is of the essence when searching for a missing individual; every minute lost increases the risk of a tragic outcome. Project Lifesaver can reduce search times from hours and days to minutes.

We are thrilled to be supporting this wonderful local initiative. Congratulations to everyone involved. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Haileybury Golf Club. New members are always welcome to join this amazing group of generous women committed to making a difference in our community.

The TDSS Closet began with a simple email to staff to help students who did not have winter coats and boots. They received bags and bags of winter clothing. A small space was designated in the school and with additional donations from the community, they were able to fill the room.

The Closet is available to students from grades 7 to 12. Any smaller sized clothes are sent over to NLPS. Items in the closet range from toiletries, accessories, pants, tops, prom dresses, suits, coats, sweats, snow pants boots and shoes. Though it has received generous clothing donations in the past, they can’t keep up with the demand for certain items such as winter clothing and running shoes.

The school is also working on a food bank to add to the Closet as many students who access the clothing closet also have food insecurity. This means that the Closet initiative requires shelving, racks, storage bins, cupboards and a refrigerator.

Congratulations to everyone involved in impacting another local need. New members are always welcome to join this amazing group of generous women committed to making a difference in our community.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

November Meeting has gone Virtual

I think we can all agree that it has been quite a year! Here we are about to embark on our second year together as 100+ Women Who Care and we have already persevered through some interesting challenges. From Mother Nature’s major snow storm last November, forcing us to postpone our inaugural meeting, to the ongoing battle with COVID-19, we have confronted this adversity head on and triumphed to donate $38,000+ to worthy causes in our community. The final tally from our August meeting for the Rotary Splash Pad project was $11,150. WELL DONE!!!

The committee has brainstormed many options to find the best plan of action for our upcoming meeting scheduled for November 25, but with the current COVID-19 gathering restrictions in place, there was no option available for us to physically get together as a group, so we are proceeding with a virtual version. We hope that everyone will embrace this temporary version of supporting 100+ Women Who Care’s continued commitment to community.

The following steps outline how the November “meeting” will proceed with important dates included:

100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More make a big splash with their donation of over $10,000 to The Temiskaming Rotary Splash Pad

Unusual times call for creative solutions, and in order to continue their commitment to the community, 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More held an outdoor, COVID-friendly event on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at the waterfront near Riverside Place.  Of our 134 members, approximately 50 members attended in person while others sent proxies, etransfers, cheques and cash to ensure a successful event.

The beneficiary chosen, by an overwhelming majority, was the Temiskaming Rotary Splash Pad project.  This exciting project is inching ever closer to their $522,000 goal and the donation of $10,600 from 100+ Women Who Care, leaves less than $30,000 to fundraise!

Einas Makki, President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Temiskaming Shores & Area said, “The Rotary Splash Pad will allow our local kids to further enjoy the New Liskeard waterfront and will leave them with incredible childhood memories of growing up in Temiskaming Shores. On behalf of the Rotary Club, we thank the 100+ Women Who Care members for their generosity. Women are the anchors of our community, and we are humbled by their kindness. The Rotary Club is so close to its fundraising goal. The finish line is in sight! We look forward to opening the Splash Pad in 2021.”

100+ Women Who Care Committee Chair, Laurie Wilson, said, “The momentum continues.  We’re thrilled to have supported another local, immediate need. With new members joining tonight, this fabulous multi-generational group now boasts a membership of 134 exceptionally impactful women who care deeply about making their community all that it can be.  Just this morning, I saw a quote by Winston Churchill that sums up this inspirational group of women. ‘We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.’”

Although we weren’t able to meet in May, our members still made a significant impact in our community by donating over $5,000 to the following causes and others:

– The Temiskaming Foundation COVID Relief Fund

– Temiskaming Hospital Care Close to Home

– Kathie Peters Kind in COVID Food Drive

– The Salvation Army Food Bank

– The Royal Canadian Legion

– Zack’s Crib

– Northdale Manor

Members commit to giving one hour of their time each quarter, to learn about potential local beneficiaries nominated by members, and vote to select the winning recipient of their $100 contribution. The combined giving of each member’s contribution makes a powerful impact locally. Even with the complications of COVID-19, in 8 months, over $38,000 has been donated to local need.

100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More would like to thank their sponsors, Brownlee Equipment, CIBC Private Wealth Management, Grant Propane, Scotiabank, Scotia Wealth Management and Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC, as well as in-kind sponsors, Temiskaming Printing, Pedersen Construction and CJTT FM. Also, thank you to the New Liskeard and Haileybury Golf Courses who have generously donated their facilities to host the quarterly meetings. With their support, every dollar raised goes directly to the chosen beneficiary.

The next meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at a venue compatible with the COVID-19 guidelines at that time. May 27, 2020 Meeting Cancelled, but the Generosity of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Continues

Due to continued restrictions and for everyone’s safety, 100+ Women will not be getting together at the Haileybury Golf Course for their quarterly meeting on May 27th.

In an email to members from the steering committee, it was suggested that if possible, members should make their usual $100 donation to a cause that speaks to them since this Covid 19 crisis has affected so much and so many, indicating that it is associated with the 100+ Women Who Care initiative.

Some members may prefer to add their May contribution to their August contribution.

We also understand that some members may have some financial hardship because of COVID-19 and if so, members are not obligated to make their donation for May and we hope that there will be better times in the near future for all of us when we meet in August, if restrictions allow.

The Committee thanks its members in advance for their continued support of our community; they need us now more than ever.

Stay safe and wash your hands!

100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Committee

The momentum continues with our second meeting on February 26, 2020.

Temiskaming Shores, ON, December 5, 2019

Our first event was an overwhelming success.

Members of the 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More Committee met Thursday, December 5, 2019 to present the $11,000 in donations to staff and residents at Northdale Manor

100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More donates $11,000 to Northdale Manor.

After Mother Nature’s winter storm resulted in a rescheduled first meeting, 100+ women gathered at the New Liskeard Golf Course on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 for the inaugural meeting of 100 Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More. The first beneficiary of this inspiring new organization is the Northdale Manor and they will receive $11,000.

The Northdale Manor is a not-for-profit retirement home that was originally established in 1956 by the United Church and sold to Northdale Manor Corporation for $1 in 1979. The Manor is in need of dining room chairs for the safety of the residents at a cost of $40,000. The Frog’s Breath Foundation has committed $10,000 for the purchase of the chairs, if the remaining funds were raised by April 2020. With the annual Manor Hearty Lunch in April netting $20,000 and the $11,000 received from 100+ women who care, they will receive the funds from Frog’s Breath and the dining room chairs will become a reality. A presentation on behalf of Northdale Manor was made by Nancy Pedersen, a member of the volunteer board of directors of Northdale Manor. When the results were tallied she said “I am personally thrilled to be able to be part of this amazing group of women and extremely thankful that Northdale Manor was chosen to be the recipient of this very generous donation.”

The entire steering committee of 100 Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More were overwhelmed to have over 100 women attend the inaugural meeting, but not surprised, knowing that we live in an amazing community where raising $11,000 in ONE HOUR for local need is achievable! This fabulous multigenerational group of women is already making a significant local impact. Laurie Wilson, chair of 100 Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores and More, says “last night is proof positive that as strong as we women are in our own right, together we are stronger.”

Members commit to giving one hour of their time each quarter, to learn about potential local beneficiaries nominated by members, and vote to select the winning recipient of their $100 contribution. The combined giving of each member’s contribution makes a powerful impact locally. As Helen Reddy so aptly proclaims, “I am woman hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore”!

100 Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More would like to thank their sponsors, Brownlee Equipment, CIBC Private Wealth Management, Grant Propane, Scotiabank and Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC, as well as in-kind sponsors, Temiskaming Printing, Pedersen Construction and CJTT FM. Also, thank you to the New Liskeard and Haileybury Golf Courses who have generously donated their facilities to host the quarterly meetings. With their support, every dollar raised goes directly to the chosen beneficiary.

The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the New Liskeard Golf Club.
